Question: last nite my 12 year old son said he was getting pains in his chest area around his heart when he was lying down.

HI and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this chest pain and knee pain that your son has. Given his age and the notion of being an athletic, this is probably as a result of intense exercise. This is no no way suggestive of a heart disease. The positive ANA to me doesn't raise any concerns about a possible autoimmune disorder at this time.

I recommend that he take Tylenol for pains. If the knee pains persist, he might need to take some time off the track training for rest and recovery.
