What Causes Chronic Right-sided Back Pain?
I have been having right-sided middle of the back pain for about nine days. The first time and this morning, it was very painful to move, also after sitting more than two hours. The pain has varied over the past nine weeks, but has not completely disappeared. I have had fatigue for the past few months. Urinating has varied - not as much as usual and I am guilty of not drinking enough fluids. Family history includes kidney stones, chronic kidney failure and kidney cancer.

Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns ..
In my opinion your back pain is due to a renal stone, gravel or any kind of renal insufficiency.
I recommend urine analysis , serum urea and creatinine and U/S abdomen and pelvis for proper evaluation and management .
You also mentioned low fluid intake and familial history of renal diseases so you may be more liable to such diseases , in most of cases renal diseases cause a referred pain to your back that may be felt as a muscular spasm or sprain in males referred pain may go toward genitals .
If it was a muscular spasm ibuprofen , hot massages with topical gels , muscle relaxants and some spinal straightening exercises will be effective for most of cases .
For now i think you need to increases your fluid intake , urosolvin sachets and declophen tabs with colic will be fine .
If your pain persists visit your urologist for proper diagnosing of the underlying causes .
