What Causes Clotted Dark Blood In Stool?
Thank you for your response.
Possible indigested sushi mimicking blood clot
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
I understand your concerns.
1. You are saying to "have passed a small amount of clotted dark blood with stool". I need to know if it was really from your stool and not from your vagina taking into account your gender and age.
2. Perhaps you have no history of "external" hemorrhoids, but might be "internal" hemorrhoids. Colonoscopy is the examination that would definitely determine it. Can you please provide the colonoscopy report so I can analyze the findings myself that would help give a more specific advice?
3. If sushi could be a possible problem, it would have given the symptoms of alimentary intoxication: abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting etc.
If you have not had such symptoms so far, then, sushi is excluded as possible cause.
Perhaps you might have passed an indigested sushi part that have resembled as blood clot.
If it happened once and not repeated and no sign for periods, then, probably a part of indigested sushi that has given a false blood clot alarm.
Otherwise, if it will be repetitive, I advise to consult with GI specialist for further evaluations of diverticulum or other colon issues.
All the best!

Ok,all the best...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXX,
Ok, then, if it was only one episode and you do not see anything related to vaginal bleeding, then, should pay attention to other symptoms you might have including:
- fever
- abdominal pain
- changes in bowel movement habits
- mucus or persistent blood in stool
You should consult with your GI specialist to look for possible diverticulitis flare up if these symptoms are persistent.
All the best my dear!
