Brief Answer:
New MRI needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi again Latahualpa.

I read from our previous discussions that you had a vertebral column MRI that showed a L5/S1 herniated disc, and a normal EMG, but you didn't specify the time MRI was done.

However, if you are suffering from back pain since one year and recently the pain changed in nature or got worse, then a new MRI of your column is needed in order to compare evolution in time of the herniated disc together with clinical findings.

Another thing to evaluate is distribution of the pain, if it follows a specific localization pattern ( radicular pain), then your disease progressed, if the pain has no specific localization characteristics, then is caused by incorrect posture.

In my opinion, above mentioned possibilities should be considered by your treating Doctor before deciding to have new examinations or not.

Hope this helps. If you have further questions feel free to ask.

Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
A new imaging study is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for getting back.

This change in pain intensity and localization needs a new MRI of vertebral column and a careful neurological examination by a neurologist.

One year is a lot of time in terms of imaging studies and things could be changed since then, so I suggest you to discuss again with your treating Doctor about the possibility of havin a new MRI done.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have further questions.
