Hello and welcome,
I understand the issue.
These symptoms are very common after the age of 45 so do not worry so much. The commonest cause is
hormonal imbalances and mostly fluctuations of
estrogen disrupting cycles. Other reasons for this may be ovarian tumors that cause imbalance in hormones and
thyroid disturbances. Polyps of the
cervix and endometrium and fibroids [ non cancerous uterine tumors ] also produce irregular bleeding. Very rare causes are cancer cervix [ usually has a foul smelling discharge] and cancer uterus. These are rare and mostly occur after 55-60 years.
You are having mild bleeding now even after about 7-8 days. As of now i suggest that you may take tablets like
tranexamic acid to control bleeding. See your doctor get an examination and
ultrasound as well as thyroid testing done.
Further evaluation may need a D and C or a
hysteroscopy if a cause is found in the preliminary screen.
Please do not worry as these irregularities are a rule rather than exception after 45 years of age. Many women do experience some or the other issues and the causes are simple. Just get a vaginal examination [ to rule out local causes like cervical polyps] and an ultrasound and it will clarify things.
Hope this was helpful.
Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help.
