What Causes Cough And Chest Tightness While Treating Haemophilus Influenzae?
Question: i was diagnosed with haemopholus influenzae 3 weeks ago. i had a bronchoscopy and was given doxycycline and amoxicillin for the pneumonia. i have finished the antibiotics but still have a cough not as bad as before and sometimes feel a bit tight in the chest. is this normal?
Brief Answer:
probably yes
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
respiratory tract infections may cause prolonged cough sometimes. Pneumonia may resolve and leave some coughing behind which should get better over time and resolve before 1-2 months pass. If your doctor says you're clear from pneumonia and its complications (pleuritis for example) then there is no reason to worry. If you haven't seen your doctor for a while and/or the cough is getting worse then a new visit for assessment would be recommended.
Kind Regards!

Brief Answer:
no...
Detailed Answer:
You're welcome!
The answer is no. Sore throat or other symptoms are not expected. Perhaps a new cold? Since your pneumonia is very recent and there's always the chance for recurrence you'd better visit your doctor for assessment.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
