What Causes Coughing After Eating Food?

Question: Why is it that after I eat, I start coughing very much. Sometimes this results in immediate vomiting. I must eat a very small amount of food and do so because it seems my body does not want to eat at all. i'm always afraid of eating because I always get this reaction. I only eat the bare minimum. This has been happening to me over 15 yrs. eating then coughing then vomiting.......do you know why?
