What Causes Dark Discoloration Over Gums In Children Post Injury?
Ecchhymosis, hematoma, secondary to trauma, radiograph
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, i have gone through your query.
As far as the dark discoloration seen over the gums near the upper central incisor is concerned, it can be ecchymosis or hemmorrhage secondary to trauma. Nothing to be panic, it is a self limiting condition. You can give alternative cold and hot fomentation over the affected area. You need to consult a pedodontist and get it evaluated. You need to get a radiograph done to see the status of the tooth which is present inside the gums.
I hope i have answered your query. If any queries are there reply me back. Take care.
Discoloration secondary to trauma.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feed back. I understand your concern.
The dark color is because of the trauma to the overlying gums of an erupting tooth. This trauma has resulted in bleeding below the gums. The gums have got compressed because of the trauma. This will heal in 5-7 days.
As your assumption that the tooth is growing black, it is not the tooth that is growing black. It is the accumulation of the blood below the gums and over the erupting tooth secondary to trauma giving that reddish black color. You can massage that area applying warm saline over that area.
Regarding the tooth Follow the instructions said in the previous conversation.
I hope i have answered your query. If any queries are there, reply me back.
