What Causes Dark Halos In The Peripheral Vision?
Question: I had cataract surgery 1 year ago. toric lenses were implanted. I have been experiencing the issue of seeing dark halos in my peripheral vision during the day, growing more pronounced as the brightness of the light increases. I do not have any issue with night time vision or night driving. I have brought this to the attention of an optometrist and 2 ophthalmologists and I can't seem to get anyone to listen to me or give me a straight answer as to what is going on.

These symptoms of seeing dark halos in the peripheral vision following implantation of intraocular lens. These are because of edges of intraocular lenses andare seen in all with intraocular lenses.
These are more pronounced with toric lenses and multifocal lenses.
However these will decrease because of neuroadaptation.
There is no effective treatment for this condition. Decreasing the size of pupil or use of dark glasses will be of help.
Hence try these things and do discuss this with your ophthalmologist or optometrist.

Should larger lenses have been used in order to avoid this halo effect?
