What Causes Decreased Urine Output?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Oct 2015
Question: question. I am investigating my reduction in urine. The is no pain, swelling or unusual color or smell.
I have had a reduction in energy. My first impulse is to drink more water and juice to see what happens. My father had prostate cancer which has set off an alarm. Since I dont want to be an alarmist I came here to the internet. Where do I go from here?

Brief Answer:
No need for anxiety.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, let me assure you, there's no reason to be so anxious.
Understand one fact.
Prostate cancer isn't a hereditary disease.

Next fact to realize is, that for every 10 glasses of liquids you drink, only about 6 glasses (60%), will be filtered out as urine.
So don't keep checking, if you're passing 10 glasses liquids.
Rest of the water or other fluids, are needed for other functions in body, like sweat, tears, saliva, intestinal juices, etc.

A simple test to do,is check, your blood creatinine. If normal, kidneys are fine.
Similarly, a simple test to screen for prostate cancer is PSA test.
To clear your doubts further, you just need an Urologist, to do a rectal examination of your prostate gland, if at all, the above reports are abnormal.

If you feel tired soon, check your routine blood CBC,sugar, and lipid profile tests also. Show the reports to your family doctor.
That way, all your doubts will be over.

Hope you feel better now and more relaxed.
Enjoy life while you can.
