What Causes Deep Breathing Induced Cough And Pain?
Question: Pain in upper right chest area - not bad in the morning but by evening extremely painful. Have had this for about 3-4 months, taking deep breaths induces a short tight cough along with the pain and am experiencing shortness of breath. I do upper body training and thought it was a pulled muscle or tendon. I have no health insurance and want to know what test would provide me with the most accurate diagnosis.
Brief Answer:

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms
Deep breathing induced cough and pain it could be either due to Musculoskeletal skeletal pain or Pleurisy. Pleurisy is inflammation of covering of lung that is Pleura.
In the absence of fever or cough it's unlikely to be of concern.
Local application of hot water fomentation and analgesic like Ibuprofen will be helpful. If the symptoms persists you will require a basic Chest X ray for further assessment.
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take care
