What Causes Delayed Menstruation And Negative Pregnancy Test?

Question: Hello,
My husband and I have been ttc for three months now and I usually have heavy periods that last 4 days with cramps. Almost two weeks ago I was supposed to start my period and only spotted the first evening, next day was light/medium and then brown and pinkish red spotting for another day and a half. Then today (a week later) I had a light brown sticky discharge. I have taken pregnancy tests and all show negative. My boobs are sore and I have gained a few pounds.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to hormonal changes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If the pregnancy test is negative then the change in period pattern is due to a mild hormonal disturbance. The period is likely to normalize on its own in next cycle. In case the brownish discharge persists then you need proper hormonal treatment after consulting your gynecologist.
To confirm that you are not pregnant, you can get your blood beta HCG levels evaluated.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
