What Causes Diarrhea While On Nexavar?
Question: I been taking Nexavar for two months. I experience an itchy scalp, mucus draining down behind my right ear causing ear and jaw pain at times, the mucus drains to my throat an down to my abdominal. At times I want to throw up, but can't. I have had 3 bad cases of diarrhea. Each time the diarrhea got bad I stop all medicine including the nexavar for two days and the diarrhea cleared up and I started back on my medicine. Within 2 week the diarrhea returned. I also noticed when I cleaned up my loose bowels mess I felt little knots of something outside my retum, I am scheduled to see my doctor in two weeks. Any thoughts as to if this is normal ?
Brief Answer:
Diarrhea related to drug side effects.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
I can certainly understand your concern.
Diarrhea in your case is largely related to the combination of drug side effect(NEXAVAR) and mucous drain of the ear.
It is important to get a stool culture and sensitivity along with FOBT test to appropriate treatment strategy for the institution of antibiotics if any.
The knots around the anus may imply hemorrhoids. This needs a per rectal examination for confirmation.
The ear drain needs a fix as well.
Post your further queries if nay.
Thank you.
