Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
The most common cause of acute onset of loose stools is infection. A stool test may be done for confirmation.
Loose stools can lead to dehydration. So make sure he takes adequate fluids.
I would advise BRAT diet for him ( Banana, Rice, Apple sauce and Toast).
He should also take yogurt which contains probiotics which will hasten recovery.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Thank you. I was just concerned because he didn't wake up. Seemed odd and concerning to me that he could sleep through that
Brief Answer:
Welcome
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Since it was the first episode, infection should be considered first.
As mentioned earlier, a stool test may be done for confirmation.
If he gets such episodes recurrently without him realizing, then other causes of fecal incontinence should be looked into.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
