What Causes Difficulty In Completing A Thought Or Sentence?
completing a sentence. The words do come out right. I am sure that by now it is noticeable to whom ever
I am talking. I wonder what that is a symptom of. My children haven't said anything but it is getting worse.
I might add that my husband had a massive stroke in September. His therapy is now over and he can not
express himself. the words just will not come out and he gives up. His right side is not usable and he is in
a Board & Care. After 58 years together this is so hard on both of us. Would that be a part of my problem?
Cause of incomplete sentence symptom
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. It is very sad that your are undergoing so much stress. I can imagine how hard is it to take care of your husband, having massive stroke.
You have only one symptom that is difficulty in completing sentence. As you are undergoing too much stress, I can rule out between psychological and neurological cause. The probable psychological cause can be
- Anxiety disorder - It can develop due to the stress at subconscious level. It can manifest as palpitation, sweating in palms/plantar area, dryness of mouth, inability to speak while in stress, tremors. Any of the above symptom or all can occur.
- depression - It is another common disorder. It can manifest as decreased sleeping, lack of interest, lack of appetite, social withdrawal, no peace in mind, suicidal thoughts.
For evaluation of your psychological functions, you must consult the Psychiatrist. If he will have any doubt about neurological cause like gangliocapsular stroke, frontal or temporal lobe lesion left side, it can be checked by
- MRI brain with diffusion weighted image
This investigation can identify old and new stroke areas both.
The treatment of stroke is mainly medical and rehabilitation. If any lesion, that can be managed surgically or medically depending on the type of lesion.
Hope it will help. If any doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
