What Causes Difficulty In Straightening The Knee And Lifting Heavy Objects?
Question: Hello, I didn't do anything to my leg. walking into a restaurant I started to limp- not wanting to put all weight on foot. Nothing really hurts, my knee above the joint swells if Im on it. espton salt baths and advil - will not let me straighten my knee for 5 days now?
Brief Answer:
probably need to see doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is good that there is not a lot of pain but the issue of not being able to straighten the knee and trouble with weight bearing indicates that something fairly serious is going on. There does not have to be a big trauma to have damage to the ligaments, tendons or meniscus (cartilage lining the knee joint).
Wrapping and elevating are good but if you still have trouble with pain on bearing weight and inability to straighten the knee then I urge you to see your doctor.
You may not need a surgery, but if something serious is wrong and you keep walking on it, it may get worse.

I had this particularly need cleaned out two years ago to find it was bone on bone and I have been supporting Cortizone shots every six months. But again the knee is not sore I can move it in every direction
Brief Answer:
but.....
Detailed Answer:
It is good that you can move it but if you can't straighten it out then that is a problem. I would suggest that you see the orthopedic surgeon that cleaned it out in the past. You may have a meniscus tear that is blocking complete extension of the knee.
