What Causes Dilated Pupil In The Operated Eye With Blurring Of Vision?
Question: I am 52 year old female. Had retinal detachment surgery on 1/12/2015. My daughter noticed that my pupils are two different sizes. The vision is blurry in the operated eye, like if I had been swimming. The gas bubble is gone, but my eye is still irritated and the office nurse advised lubricant drops in addition to the Prednisolone eye drops. I have an appointment Tuesday. I am anxious to know if the pupil discrepancy is normal this far out postop, and shouldn't I be able to read out of that eye? I have an excellent surgeon. The retinal detachment itself just was a huge shock to me, so perhaps I am over-anxious. Other than the eye irritation, I feel fine, but the eye problem is slowing my work productivity down. I am on computer all day for medical records work. Thank you for any light you can shed on this, especially if the pupil size discrepancy is an issue.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you have undergone retinal detachment surgery and you are having dilated pupil in the operated eye with blurring of vision.
Dilated pupil and blurred vision are common because of inflammation induced by surgery and these will improve as the inflammation subsides.
Prednisolone eye drops will reduce the inflammation and you will be fine no need to be worried about it.
Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
