Brief Answer:
You need evaluation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your question.
No, it's not normal,You should consult your treating doctor immediately for examination and investigation to rule out the cause.
Brown discharge in your case can be due to-
- Senile vaginitis
- Infection of vagina
- In rare cases malignancy
The chances of senile vaginitis are more in your case, but another two possibilities cannot be ruled out.
Are you having any pain, fever and odor along with discharge?
Please revert back to me with my answer.
Thus I will be able to give my opinion to you.
Hope to hear soon from you.
Good luck.

No, I am not running fever, there is a bit of odor and had a biopsy and it came back negative. There is not a lot of discharge. I asked others who had hysterectomies. They said it took them about a year to completely get over the surgery. So I am thinking it may be taking me longer to completely get over that surgery.
Brief Answer:
Consult your doctor.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Nice to be hearing from you again.
Yes! It is true that recovery time for a surgical operation can vary from person to person.
But after 6 months of surgery if you have brown discharge and discomfort, then you should consult your treating doctor to find out the cause.
If it is due to senile vaginitis than your physician prescribed a cream for local application.
If it is due to infection, then maybe you required antibiotic treatment.
Hope it is useful to you.
Any more questions, feel free to ask.
Good luck.
