Brief Answer:
Why not take GAVISCON instead? It'll probably help you.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX,

Thanks for you faith in healthcaremagic.com

I am Dr. Neel Kudchadkar and I will help you.

You have 2 problems at once, so let's treat them one at a time.

1. The point is that you have GERD. This means Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease. You can digest food because your stomach produces acid. This dissolves the food that you eat. The stomach is connected to your esophagus by means of the cardiac sphincter. When this get's affected, acid splashes upwards from your stomach to your esophagus. This gives a "choking" sensation. It is brought on by exercise or change in position of your body, because of gravity, the acid can easily splash upwards.

Tagamet (cimetidine) and zantac (ranitidine) are drugs used to treat this issue.
Since you are a unique person, Tagamet seems to work better on you.

Since all the medicines you are taken now REDUCE acid levels, why not try
GAVISCON which creates a foam to effectively, efficiently and easily stop
your problem. Discuss this kindly with your doctor.

2. The other problem is probably something called as Arthritis. It can affect people at any age. Please see a doctor and he or she will give you medications like DMARDS and NSAIDS. It is best left to you, as to which medication you are comfortable with.

You're safe here. It's OK.

Thank you doctor. I will have some video examination, soon, Do you think an operation will do any good?

I will try gaviscon. I have to take a lot of antiacid, and I will try to eat little, they tell me that all the time but you know how we people are.

Brief Answer:
Thanks for your compliments. This advice can help you greatly....

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX,

The "video" examination you are talking about is called as a "gastroscopy", a very fine "wire" called as a "catheter" is inserted into your mouth to your stomach, and with minimum discomfort and hassles, a camera looks for things like polyps, and many other issues.

There is NO operation that can solve your problem. What will the doctor try to do? Fortify and strengthen the cardiac sphincter? This hardly warrants an operation. This is turning a molehill into a mountain and making self - created problems.

Please eat as you wish, but in moderation. Avoid going to extremes of binging foods OR starving yourself. It's always a bad idea. Strike a balance. You are the best judge of what is "balanced" and "normal" for yourself.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
Please do this for your dizziness spells...

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXX,

The dizziness that you are describing can be due to two distinct causes.

1. The medications that you are taking. There could be either a fluctuation in the dosage or there might be an inappropriate dosage. You will have to consult a doctor to find out if you are consistently taking the right dose at the right time.

2. You might be having OPH. Orthostatic Postural Hypotension. Dizziness is caused when there is a fall in the blood pressure. You describe situations in which you feel dizzy when the gravity (earth's pull) causes blood to flow away from your brain. Sudden changes in position like getting up or vice versa, triggers off dizziness.

3. Both of the above are interrelated like a lock and a key. You will greatly benefit and get better if you adjust the dosage of your medication, and try to figure out if you are taking any other medication in addition to ones you take for your health issues.

Please follow these suggestions and get well.

Brief Answer:
Kindly read these suggestions for good results.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX,

I like the way you approach your health issues. I also strongly feel that you should not feel low or feel that your efforts are "fruitless". After all you have made efforts and that's more than enough. I would kindly bring to your attention that your efforts to stop Lorazepam show that you are devoted to your health.

Now both of us know that having perfect health needs a lifetime of effort.
It can't be done in a day. Just take it one day at a time.

You feel that OPH (dizziness while changing position) is a "head" problem. NO.
OPH can happen to anyone of us. The dizziness is felt in the head because the
brain consumes more blood from the heart than any other organ in the body. OPH is just the body trying to rapidly adjust blood pressure upon sudden change in body position.

You are normal.

I will politely inform you since you are waiting for an appointment with your doctor for the gastroscopy, please ask him to adjust dosages of different medicines. He can do this and he has the knowledge to do this. I know this for a fact.

Lastly, I am of the medical opinion that you may have a problem that requires Lorazepam to be taken, OR a medicine which is not like Lorazepam but has an EFFECT EXACTLY LIKE IT.
Understand this carefully.

I can help you here.
