Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a female, 39 years old and overweight. I never get heartburn. Over the weekend I ate some pretty greasy food and now I have had heartburn for 3 days straight. Maalox and Tagamet have helped. I know my cholesterol is normal. The heartburn gets better with each day, but it burns all the way down to my stomach when I eat anything...which has only been bland foods. Is this something I need to worry about?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, it is nothing to worry but it you should take care of heart burn it can not be neglected but it has to be treated with PPI and the best drug of option is Omeprazole 40 mg once in day and it has to be taken at evening time, it needs to be continued up to three weeks. Hyperacidity is of course matter of concern, because untreated hyperacidity could cause many subtle symptoms, it may give chance to infection too, can disturbs the routine, try to avoid the heavy meal, spicy food, high density cholesterol diet, avoid taking, coffee, heavy spicy meal, alcohol, smoking prior to bed. hope this information helps.
