What Causes Discomfort In Abdomen And Pain After Diagnostic Colonoscopy?
Decrease in pain is good sign
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear XXXXXXX
Slight discomfort in abdomen and pain is quite common even after diagnostic colonoscopy. It usually happens due to colonic distension.
As her pain in abdomen has reduced and abdomen is soft , it rules out catastrophe like colonic perforation.
If the blood stained mucous is little in quantity there is no cause for concern. Fever could be due to other causes like respiratory infection.
It would be helpful if you could provide me additional information
1. What is the grade of fever?
2. Is her appetite okay?
3. Is she passing stools of normal color or its just blood stained mucous ?
4. Any respiratory or urinary symptom?
5. Is there any distension of abdomen ?
Awaiting your response
Take care
Best regards

Thank you for answering the question.
Unfortunately, I don't have a thermometer at home, but it wasn't a very high grade fever.
Her appetite after the colonoscopy was normal.
Only blood stained mucus has been passed so far,...she hasn't had BO since the colonoscope...she usually has BO in the mornings only.
No respiratory or urinary symptoms.
No distention of the abdomen, and currently she says there is no more pain.
As for the blood stained mucus, it's quantity is about 1/2 sanitary pad over a few hours (from about 10 pm to this morning).
Thank you.
There is no cause for concern

Going by the description given by you there is definitely no cause for concern. Slight blood stained mucoid discharge is quite common after colonoscopy.
Fever could be unrelated to the procedure.
