What Causes Discrepancy In Ultrasound Dates At 5 Weeks Pregnancy?
Question: Hi!
I hope you are well.
I have a question regarding to pregnancy.
I had a internal scan last saturday 21.11 by that time my doc could see a gestation sac and a yolk sac MSD was 0.8cm.
Because I had some pain 2 days in a row i had to have another scan. This was today (26.11). I had gestation sac, yolk sac and we could also see the baby 2.5mm
Because i got 2 totally diffrent gestational ages I would like to ask you... The numbers i gave you could you tell me what is the gestation age in your oppinion.

I have reviewed the reports.
According to the two ultrasound reports, your pregnancy is progressing normally, with normal fetal cardiac activity.
However, gestational age by ultrasound do not corresponds to the gestational age calculated by last menstrual period.It can be due to delayed ovulation and hence delayed conception.
Your correct gestational age will thus be calculated by your ultrasound.

Thank you for your answer. But is it possible to say when the fertilization occurred. Was it after the intercourse that happend 25.10 or after intercourse that happend 04.11.

Thank you fir the relpy. Although it was a tricky qestion. If i read back 5,2 weeks i get that i was fertilized on 4/11 as well. But i was on a trip from 2/11 til 9/11 and no intercourses happend at that time. Thats's why this is a mistery for me. The last intercource i had was on 25-26/10

However, if we calculate by estimation, then if you were 5 weeks2 days on 26/11, then the expected date of fertilization is anywhere between1/11 to 4/11.
Since the sperm are alive in the genital tract for 5 days after intercourse, so any intercourse on 26/10 can lead to fertilization on 1/11.
