What Causes Dizziness After Taking Gabapentine?

Question: I HAD A SCARY REACTION TO A NEW MED: Gabapentine. I take several other medications... morphine. Cymbalta. coreg. Cozaar. Warfarin, & more. I was dizzy... staggering around... passing out... confused, etc. Wink this pass.?

Detailed Answer:
Gabapentin is a neurotransmitter (from a structure called GABA analogue). What that means, is that it works for pain, neuropathy, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, tremors and seizures.
Therefore neurologic side effects are fairly common.
Each of the following side effects can occur in 10-20% of patients: unsteady gait, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, somnolence.
Keep in mind, that on top of these commonly occuring side effects, you are already on morphine (which has sedative properties) and cymbalta (which can cause fatigue and somnolence in about 10% of patients!).
You should talk to your prescribing doctor, and decrease dosage of some of your meds, in order to prevent the side effects you had.
