What Causes Dizziness Following Hard And Prolonged Cough?

Consult with a pulmonologist
Detailed Answer:
Hello, madame! Thank you for your question and welcome to HCM. I understand your concern.
It may happen and, if this the first episode of near-fainting, then it sometimes accompanies hard coughing. During hard and prolonged cough, there is a certain congestion that happens to the blood supply to the brain and deoxygenated (venous) blood emptying. Therefore, less oxygen goes to the brain and it can produce, however shortly, dizziness, blurry or dark vision, even clear-cut fainting sometimes. I would recommend you to lose weight and consult a pulmonologist, to accentuate your anti-astmathic medicine. Also, a chest X-ray would be in order. Obesity is often accompanied with sleep apnea, therefore, a sleep study for episodes of apnea is recommended. Just to be sure and safe, I would also recommend an echocardiogram (ultrasonography of the heart) to assess valvular and other heart structures, which could, however with low probability in your case, cause this near-fainting episode.
I hope I was helpful with my answer. I would be happy to help, if you have follow-up questions. Please rate my answer, if you do not.
Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
