Brief Answer: need more details for better understanding Detailed Answer: Dear XXXXXXX Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and after going through your history I've come up with following necessary set of Questionnaire for further work up and Management. 1. Since you are concerned about your problem, was any consultation seeked from a Doctor [for nutritional deficiency: mainly Vitamin A,B,C], Dentist [Denture problem] or Dermatologist [accurate diagnosis/second opinion]? PS. Only a medical professional can determine whether dry lips are a symptom of an underlying health condition, thus examination becomes necessary 2. any over exposure to wind/ sun [sun burn] or dry air? 3. any history of lip biting i.e. nervousness/anxiety, mouth breathing, eating of too much citrus fruits, and/or dehydration problems? 4. since irritation is there, thus any itching around the corners of lip? 5. any constant use of toothpaste/ mouthwash [allergy to some chemical]? MANAGEMENT 6. usually color of lips change when either there is some fungal infection or extreme dryness [since they have no oil glands to keep them moist, they depend on water for moisture. 7. . drink at least 8-10 glasses of water to maintain hydration. . use coconut oil mixed with almond oil [early morning and night] . use a good sunscreen on your lips, whenever going outside . avoid licking of lips, try changing your toothpaste . mix ghee [clarified butter] with wax and massage the lips. . cocoa butter helps to lock moisture of lips and also reduce discoloration. . you may add few drops of honey to vaseline and then apply on lips. . you may apply aloe vera gel either by freshly extracting the gel from the leaves or you may but from general store [near you] Please revert back with above questions so that any offending agent can be modified and corrected Dr. Munish Naimittika
