What Causes Dull Pain In One Side Of Pelvis And Lower Abdomen?

Question: I have a dull ache to the one side of my pelvis and lower abdomen which radiates around to my lower back. It is worse when sitting. I finished a period a week ago, and ovulated four days ago. Had intermittent discharge (white) which has gone today. Ache gets progressively worse throughout the day, and feel very tired with it. When I used a tampax on the last two days of my period it hurt to remove it. Wondering whether I have an infection or pelvic inflammatory problem ? Have booked to see Practice Nurse (earliest date for appointment is next week) for a smear as this is due. Cant get a Gp appointment until 17th December, and didnt want to class my symptoms as urgent. I do not have any bloating, or problems with appetite, or bowel or bladder control. I have had occasional wind/flatulance after eating spicy foods, but this has been a problem since I had my gall bladder out in 2009. Can pelvic ache/discomfort be caused by pre menopause ? please can you advise thanks
Brief Answer:
Hasn’t relation with pre menopause
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for your query.
As you describe this pain have no relation with pre menopause because as you describe your periods are regular and you ovulate.
Pain in your lower pelvis may be from vaginal infection (vaginal discharge) or it may be related with bones of your pelvis (pain is aggravated while you sit down)
Hence to determine the reasons wait for Gp appointment and have vaginal swab to exclude infection.
Take anti inflammatory medications and be calm until you will do appointment.

thanks for your answer. However surely if its a vaginal infection, the discharge would continue and I would have a temperature which I dont have ?. Would a tampax - which I used during my last period cause an infection as it hurt when I pulled it out over the last two days of menstruation ? concerned that I may have something more serious going on as this ache and discomfort has been a gradual one since last week, but today its uncomfortable. Thought it was relating to post ovulation, hence not contacted a Gp. Do you think this can wait until the Gp appointment on 17th December (earliest non urgent appointment I could get).
Brief Answer:
You can wait, no emergency.
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again.
Yes, using tampax can irritate your vagina making it predisposed for infection.
Hence another time better for you is to use pads.
If you have no other symptoms, there is no need to be in hurry.
Take pain killers like ibuprofen 400mg every 6 to 4 hours and don't worry so much.
All the best
