What Causes Ear Ache While Swallowing Food?

default
Posted on Thu, 8 Sep 2016
Question: Hi I was having severe earache when I tried to swallow food. I went to an ENT specialist and he prescribed me PAN D tablets, Soliwax ear drops and chymoral forte. He also asked me to get a neck MRI and blood test for vitamin D3 and B12 Done suspecting OSAS and TMJ. I have attached the test results. After that he prescribed me Vitamin D Rise 60K and Bcosule tablets. Is that enough? I need a second opinion if this is something serious.

Brief Answer:
Antibiotics are needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The medicines that you have been prescribed are due to the vitamin D3 and B12 deficiency. The pain in the ear that you have is due to the enlarged lymph nodes that can be due to an infection in the nearby area. In addition to the medicines that you are taking you need a pain killer and an oral broad spectrum antibiotic for relief. You can start taking ibuprofen after meals thrice a day and get a suitable antibiotic prescribed like azithromycin or Co-amoxyclav for a complete relief.
I hope this answers your query.

Hi. Thank you for the prompt response. I have another question. Is there anything in the MRI report to suggest TMJ or OSAS. Or is the report normal?

Brief Answer:
No indication of TMJ or OSAS.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The MRI scan report suggests mild degenerative changes in cervical spine and lymph node enlargement. It does not suggest and TM joint pathology or OSAS.
