What Causes Elevated GGT Levels In Blood?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Brief Answer:
many possible causes
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is unusual for the GGT to be elevated alone without elevations of AST, ALT and alkaline phosphatase.
Here are some possible causes: smoking, any alcohol use, hypertension, cardiovascular disease. If you have any of these it may explain the elevated GGT levels.
If not, then I can only suggest that you have it repeated in a few weeks. If it goes up again then an ultrasound of the liver would be indicated.
My suspicion is that it will go back to normal in time instead of getting worse. Usually if there is any serious problem with the liver, all the enzymes will become elevated.
