What Causes Elevated SGPT And SGOT Levels?
Thanks
Infection for sure
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. With elevated SGPT and SGOT levels I would strongly recommend an ultrasound investigation of the abdomen and pelvis to look for liver enlargement. If at all enlargement is seen, your presentation could be related to a possible infection (as your symptoms appeared acutely).
List of possibilities can include hepatitis, viral infections, regions with locally prevalent infections (eg. Q fever, West Nile fever, etc.), medication induced hepatitis, cholangitis, etc. Please do report to your doctor for further evaluation and a confirmed diagnosis to be able to initiate treatment at the earliest sir.
I hope you find my response helpful and can reach a doctor at the earliest. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
Best wishes.
Very appreciative of your service.
All the best
Not related to the run; retest after 2 weeks
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.
I doubt your run is related to the infection, but there could be a possibility that the run might have aggravated it as it can cause a lowered immunity (temporarily).
I would recommend at least 4-6 weeks of following a strict diet and I would strongly recommend the following:
-Avoid meat
-Avoid fatty/fried/oily food
-Avoid eating or drinking outside
-Make sure you boil water before drinking it
A repeat blood test can be taken once every two weeks for the next 4-6 weeks sir. if the third test result reports a normal result, then we need not test again. But please make sure you follow my instructions for at least a month or two to avoid any possible damage to the liver.
Best of luck sir and please do not hesitate to write to me anytime.
During this time what if any excercise can I do? Im a very active person and like to regularly excercise.
Thanks!!
Strictly only mild forms of exercise
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir.
I am glad I could be of assistance.
I would recommend only mild forms of exercise sir, and a rich protein diet. Your body is currently vulnerable and you might end up losing weight, especially muscle mass which would be something undesired.
So please do go about only mild forms of exercise like a cardio-workout. Hope this helps you sir. Please do not hesitate to keep in touch and write to me about anything, I am always here to help.
Best wishes.
