Brief Answer:
Amylase is raised in many conditions.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Amylase is raised in many conditions like Mumps,Appendicitis, Peritonitis etc.
But,in my experience ,the commonest condition in which it is increased is Acute pancreatitis. The levels will go upto 2000.
Though your amylase level is increased two folds,it is not of much significance. The two common causes of Acute pancreatitis are Alcoholism and Gallbladder stones.
Stop alcohol if you are an alcoholic. The levels will come down.
Ultrasound abdomen will give a clue about Gallbladder stones and Pancreatitis. If gallstones are present, gallbladder has to be removed by surgery.
Please consult your doctor, get examined clinically and get appropriate prescription.
Nothing to worry. It will come down.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
