
What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure After Taking Votrient?

Question: I had been operated upon left kidney removed ( nephroectomy in April 2014.8! August 2014 congestion heart failure.biopsy report was carcecona.now thee is some growth in renal fossa ( recurrence of carcecona) now taking votrient 600 mg daily since last 15 days.there is increase in BP I.e 180-100.Is it upper side and the effect of votrient

Votrient contains Pazopanib which is an anticancer drug used in renal cancer
Its common side effect is increase in blood pressure
It can be only be taken if your BP is below 140/90 mm HG
I would advise you to stop Votrient and first control your blood pressure by adding calcium channel blocker gruop of drugs with losartan(losar) with your doctors advise and when it becomes less than 140/90 mm HG then to restart it
