What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 May 2014
Question: I recently had a CMP, CBC, lipid panel, tsh drawn. All was WNL except my ALT (80) and AST (43). I was called back for a liver and Hepatitis panel 4 days later. My ALT was 23 and AST was 1 point above normal limit. Hep panel negative. I had not taken any Tylenol, I do drink a glass or two of wine occasionally in the evenings. What could have caused the elevation?

Brief Answer:
Not worrisome...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history and I find nothing worrisome in such findings. To my impression, it is a lab mistake as long as hep panel was negative.

It might be related to the drugs you are using, and possible common viral infection you might have been suffering, but not worrisome.
You can repeat the test after 6 weeks.

Hope it was of help!
