What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?

Complete LFT report and further details are needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for posting the concern in the HCM. The test report you mentioned is a part of your liver function test report. It shows that you have elevated liver enzymes. Without knowing the symptoms and complete LFT report including your serum bilirubin level, ALP, total protein, albumin and globulin levels it is not possible to comment on your present status.
You should also do the following tests-
Complete blood count, urea, creatinine, HbsAG, anti HCV, anti HAV
USG whole abdomen.
You also need to provide the details of any symptom, for which you did these tests and any other report available.
Please also mention whether you have fever, pain in upper abdomen (particularly right side), nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite.
I also need information regarding whether you consume alcohol? If yes, the frequency and amount are needed to be mentioned.
Please write back with all the details and I shall try my best to help you.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushik Sarkar

Evaluation for viral hepatitis needed
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply. But, you didn't answer all my queries and you also need to attach all the available investigation reports.
With the available information, my provisional diagnosis is that you are having viral hepatitis or it may be non hepatitis viral fever which has caused transaminase level elevation, that is, increase in liver enzymes.
Now, you need to have viral screening (Hbsag, anti HCV, anti HAV) done along with USG of upper abdomen to confirm the diagnosis. I also need your CBC and other available investigation reports.
For the time being, you maintain good oral hydration, home made non-spicey diet, and avoid alcohol. If you are not taking any medicine, you should start taking Tab Udiliv 150 twice daily and Tab Paracetamol 500 mg SOS for fever at minimum 6 hours interval. Plus you may have Tab Pantocid DSR one tab before breakfast.
Clinical examination by your local physician is also needed.
If you are satisfied with the answer, you can close the thread and rate my answer.
For further details, please write back with detailed information.
Regards,
Dr Kaushik Sarkar
