What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?
Fatty liver only. No cirrhosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Your liver enzymes are significantly raised.
ALT is increased more than AST.
Though there are many different causes for this raise the most common cause is fatty liver and it has been confirmed by the CT scan. The scan has not shown any features suggestive of cirrhosis.
So you do not have cirrhosis.
You need to do undergo few tests like HBsAg, antiHCV, serum ceruloplasmin, ANA, AMA,ASMA and AntiLKM to rule out other common causes which can raise liver enzymes.
Blood glucose and lipid profile should also be done as raised levels can cause fatty liver.
As far as treatment is concerned, weight reduction is the first step.
You can take trimethyl glycine supplements.
I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K
