Hi, sorry but an empty sac usually means a non viable pregnancy at 7 weeks. Were your beta hcg levels increasing? If so, how much? Any pregnancy symptoms?
Please consult your OBGYN and wait till you are absolutely sure before deciding on a course of action. There are instances where a fetal pole is detected even upto 8-10 weeks due to improper dating. Hope this helps. Pls thank me if satisfied

Sorry for the delayed reply.

As you have pregnancy symptoms, let's wait for a couple more weeks.
Let me know all your blood reports, scan results so far.
Please mention the date of the start your last period.

*do you have any other medical issues or take any medications/supplements ?
*how long have you been married?
*any children? Have you been pregnant before?
*any history of miscarriage in the family?.

Hang in there.

I have been married for 3 months.
Blood test results showed 13789 on friday and dropped to 10379 on monday. I have booked an appoitment at an early pregnancy clinic on monday morning for an assessment. Doctor said that if i havent had bleeding by wednesday that ill need to have a D&C

Brief Answer:
Medical options also available

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your response.
A reducing beta hcg level is definitely not a good sign, sorry.
If you are only 7 weeks past you last menstrual period, a medical management is an option.
This has to be done under medical guidance and involves taking medication at prescribed moments.

This can take time upto 24 hrs and can be painful & have similar (bleeding, infection, retained products of conception) complications as in D&C (except for the surgical ones like perforation and scarring) . However, it has more than a 95% success rate.

If you want to avoid any procedures, you may want to talk to your doctor about options and possible complications before making a decision.

However please wait for the next blood result and your appointment. You also have the option of waiting a little longer (a week) to see if the bleeding occurs on its own. This is provided you do have any fever or foul smelling vaginal discharge..

Donr be discouraged. More than 80% of those who have had a miscarriage go on to have a healthy pregnancy. I know how upsetting it is and the gap will never be filled and although people closest to you will not feel the same, it doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.
Wish you good health.

Dr. Shuba Hariprasad

Brief Answer:
D&C is best now

Detailed Answer:
Hello,,
Oh ok and the sac is empty. Missed miscarriage is the probable diagnosis. OK, then D&C is the best option now.
Yes, then your doctor is right. Wait till Wednesday and then see what happens. If no bleed, then D&C is the way to go.
You will be sedated, given some medications to help with cramping, nausea.
You will need to be an empty stomach for 8 hrs.
Some about of cramping will be there for 48 hrs and bleeding for upto two weeks (commonly less than a week).
Take a week off from work and take it easy for a 2-3 weeks.
Hope I've helped. I'd be happy to help with any further questions you may have.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
