What Causes Excessive Bleeding During Menstruation While On Antibiotics?

default
Posted on Fri, 1 Jul 2016
Question: my girlfriend has started her monthly but it's heavier then her normal period.
I think it's partially because of her being on a soft/liquid diet for the last week due to a wisdom tooth extraction. but I'm unsure if this is the cause
she has been bleeding extremely heavy for 3 of the last 4 days more in the morning then the rest of the day
heavy bleeding consists of going though the 4 pads she wears aswell as her underwear and pants

is this something we need to go in for or not worry to much about because of the tooth extraction and the diet she has been on for little over a week now.

she has a birth control implant that has been in for just over 2 years now aswell

Brief Answer:
Hemostatic agent- Pause can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The excessive bleeding during the periods can be due to the pain killers or aspirin that she must have been taking due to the tooth extraction. The liquid diet usually does not affect the period pattern much. It is better to stop the pain killers and take tablet pause to reduce the bleeding. In case the heavy bleeding is persistent then hormonal therapy may be needed to control the bleeding after consulting her gynecologist.
