What Causes Extreme Pain While Urinating And Rectal Bleeding?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jul 2015
Question: I am experiencing extreme pain when urinating. It feels like acid pouring on my skin. I've tried all of the OTC creams and ointments I can think of. I don't think it's a yeast infection because there is no discharge. It also doesn't act like a UTI. It's gotten so bad, it's now starting to bleed in the rectal area. The pain covers the entire genital area. I have an appointment scheduled with my doctor but it's not for a week. This is killing me . . . can you suggest anything that will help? Or thoughts on what it is?

Brief Answer:
Further workup needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

If the pain is hard to bear then you should not wait for a week. The OTC measures you applied are to control the common symptoms. Wet mount microscopy after per vaginal, per speculum examination is required, Ultrasound abdomen pelvis , urinalysis/culture sensitivity testing and CBC along with CRP should be done. In case of rectal bleeding , DRE ( Digital rectal exam ) and stool R/E should also be advised. Unless the workup described is undertaken , one can not be entirely sure about the cause. You may go to another doctor/hospital and based upon this presentation , you would most likely be advised the above investigations. In the meanwhile, try to avoid any heavy weight lifting or other strenuous activity. Urinary tract stones can also be responsible for the painful urination. Add lemonade to your daily routine as it contains citrate and can help in passing out calculus concretions or a small stone present in the bladder neck. Vitamin A and D wont help in resolution of the painful symptoms , acutely. Monistat and lignocaine can be used locally till you see a doctor.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
