What Causes Extremely Heavy Periods With Big Blood Clots Postpartum?
Question: Hello,
I am 13 month PP I started my period 5 months PP. It was normal 35 day cycle. At around 9 months PP, I started bleeding 5-10 days during the middle of my cycle, with what I though looked like small blood clots. I never had clots before baby. I saw my OB and she suggested an IUD to control the bleeding. I have had Mirena put in at the beginning of December. I had cramping and bleeding for just over three weeks, which included blood clots and what seemed to be tissue. The bleeding finally stopped over chirstmas but the cramping can be so bad it stops me in my tracks, The pain will also shoot down my leg (right side) and shoots pain into my back. I also continue passing these little chunks of what look to be tissue. Photos are attached.

I was shedding the tissue before I had the Mirena placed.
Brief Answer:
Endometrial tissue remains
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
These pieces of Endometrial tissue are those which were shed before putting mirena. These pieces will comeout like this for another month before stopping completely as mirena will help to stop it.

So you are saying that shedding this tissue before and after Mirena is normal? I can only assume that the tissue isn't normal, as I have NEVER had this is 27 years. And it clearly isn't minera problem as I was shedding this BEFORE it was put in, with abnormal bleeding.
Brief Answer:
It is not mirena problem
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Even I am saying the same. This is not mirena problem. This is Endometrial shedding that normally occurs in some women PP. This is due to hormonal variations becoming normal. This period of transition is associated with shedding of Endometrial tissue.
However this tissue was she'd before mirena insertion and coming out now in pieces.
This has nothing to do with mirena.
This will stop soon.
