Question: I have had facial tenderness, headache(forehead), and stopped up ears and been slightly foggy for a week. no discharge from nose or cough. today I have low grade fever100, and nausea...does this sound like sinus infection? I have considered Claritin D and Amoxicillin 850(have rx) does this seem like right treatment?

Brief Answer:
You are most likely suffering from a viral infecti

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

I am so sorry for your health problem.
From your description, it is most likely that you are suffering from a viral infection which is the most common cause of otitis media. If you are not presenting with any upper respiratory symptoms such as runny nose or nasal congestion, cough, nasal irritation etc, then it will be unlikely sinus infection but rather or most likely an ear infection.
Given that you are most likely suffering from an ear infection, you may take antibiotics such as amoxicillin but use of claritin D (or loratadine) which is an antihistamine will not be necessary as you seem not to have flu symptoms but you may use non-steroidal antiinflammatory such as ibuprofen which will help for the facial tenderness, the headache and the fever.
I also recommend you seeing a doctor before taking any medications.

Regards
Dr. Nsah
