What Causes Fast Heart Beat?
Question: My heart beats so fast and it hurts. Went to ER once cause I took wrong mg of neurtriptyline. Took lethal dose all by taking wrong mg. late at night. Is there way to reverse what it did to my heart. It has been a week and it races so fast... Scared to leave the house cause of it. Was In ER and BP was 280/140. Doc gave me med to slow it down but it's not working! Should I go back to the ER.. It is really bothersome that it's beating so hard and fast! Do I need the ER again or wait for cardiologist appointment Monday. Could I die from this ?. 38 in shape healthy male besides from this n migraines. I shouldn't take imitrex till this is solved... My mental status is perfect. It was an honest mistake. Already did EKG and other tests. Wanted to know why a week later my heart is still beating very hard and fast. I did two trips in ambulance to 2 different hospitals plus a private cardiologist. What can be wrong that it's still doing this n is it permanent. Can damage be reversed? Is there an antidote to the TCA?

It has been a week since you had the overdose, so, at this moment, the effects of this drug are zero.
If you have already done all the tests, and they resulted normal, then, nothing to be worried about.
Feeling your heart beating very hard and fast is related to your anxiety and being stressful and thinking the worst for your current health situation. I repeat again, as long as the tests resulted normal, no need to worry to this extent.
If there have been any damage from the overdose of this drug, it should have been reversed until now. No need for antidote as the damage will not persist after 72 hours. You have already 1 week since you had the overdose.
