What Causes Fast Heart Rate After Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery?

Question: I am 6 years post op CABGx3
I run/walk approximately 150 miles per month between cycling running and walking. I noticed on my HR Monitor (IPhone App for my step tracker) which shows my heartbeat that they are not smooth between peaks but sharp even when resting sometimes. Is this due to the CABG?
And sometimes just lately I have a brief AFIB but I have also had respiratory congestion.
I'm on azythromycin 250mg (Z-Pack)
and the AFIBS were not there before the respiratory infection.

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.
What you are reporting isn't necessary related to CABG, but most likely to trial fibrillation. However it's important to confirm exactly what is causing this finding.
If you were my patient I would recommend to do the following examinations ((o find out what is causing your symptoms):
- Ecg
- Cardiac echo
- Holter monitoring
- Stress test
Moreover I would like to say that atrial fibrillation is a common complication of pulmonary infection especially in patients with cardiovascular disorders ( as you).
Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

Thank you, Even though I have no chest pain, or symptoms other than what I described, I think it's best to visit with my Cardiologist early rather than wait for my yearly appointment just to be safe.
I am due for my every 2 year Nuclear Stress Echo anyway.
My only other concern pushing that decision is some unmentioned constant Quad and Hamstring cramps even though my electrolyte level is well maintained.
I'm sure my bloodwork will reveal any underlying issues to be concerned with.
Once again Thank you!
