What Causes Fatigue, Mild Nausea, Stomach Ache And Fuzzy-headed After Taking Viibryd?

default

Question: I was on Paxil, wasn't doing the job. Tried Brintellex, no good either. I am now at the end of my second week on Viibrya. My symtoms (checked it out online) match several of the ones for Viibrya: Feel crappy, like not doing anything. Mild nausea and stomach ache, fuzzy headed. My Doctor said to see him in three weeks. My question: Will these side effects go away? I don't know if it takes 3+ weeks to level out, or if I should go back to Doctor and try something else. I'm having a real hard time trying to find a medication that works for my anxiety and depression. Do you have any information and/or suggestions as to how I should proceed? Thank you. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
change of drug needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome here.
I understand your concerns.

The side effects of an antidepressant, which are seen at the time of initiation, usually decrease in intensity within one week.
The antidepressants start showing their effect within first two weeks.

I think your body is not tolerating viibryd either.

The thumb rule prescribing antidepressants is that, If the drug does not show its effect in two weeks, changing the drug or increasing the dose should be considered.

The first change is usually from within class.

In my opinion, paxil should have been replaced by another SSRI like lexapro or daxid.

If there is still no response, then a drug from another class (Say effexor or wellbutrin) can be added.
I generally follow this principle in my patients to good effect.

Brintillex and viibryd are novel drugs. I prefer to use those drugs in my patients which have well established efficacy (SSRI, SNRI, NDRI).

Kindly consult your doctor now discuss these issues.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further.

Thanks.
