Dear XXXXXXX
Greetings from health care magic!!! I am Dr Thakker and shall be answering your question. I will try my best to help you out.
I wish to know more details about the duration of cough, if you have blood streaks in the sputum, breathlessness and chest pain. I also like to know if you have had a history of medical problems before, hypertension, diabetes. do you have a history of drug abuse in the past?
I would suggest you to have a complete blood count done along with the x-ray chest. This will help us to rule out an underlying pneumonia. I would also like you to have a sputum examination done to determine the exact organism responsible for the chronic cough.
In my practice, I would normally recommend you to take an antibiotic like levofloxacin for control of cough along with paracetamol and Benadryl. Please get back to me with the above details and reports.
I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.

I dont really have a cough it is like i have to force myself to cough up the sticky phleghm at the the back of my throat..My throat looks constantly very inflammed when i look in the mirror, and my doctor keeps subscribing augmentim or suprax which cannot be good to be on them every few weeks....
i have never taken drugs or had a drug abuse problem.. i have always been quite healthy...
I have had a number of sinus infections in the past year...and an ulcer when i was 19...

Dear XXXXXXX
Thank you for getting back to me with the relevant details.
We need to get to the root cause of the cough. You may be harboring a resistant organism which needs to be identified. Hence I would suggest you to have a complete blood count, x ray chest, sputum examination and culture; CT scan of the paranasal sinuses. This will give us answers to our unsolved question of which is the organism and where is it harbored? is it the lungs/ sinuses?
For the inflamed throat I would advice you warm salt water gargles thrice a day. steam inhalation will also give you a good symptomatic relief.
I hope this helps.
Dr Thakker.

Enjoy your day
