What Causes Feeling Of Lump Like Sensation Inside Throat?
Question: Hi, I was experiencing a lump sensation at the base of my throat and on my right side. Went to the emergency room and they check my glands, No swollen lymph nodes and did a neck tissue xray which came back great. Now I have had a sore throat. Could this be throat cancer? I quit smoking five years ago and have been using ecigs!
By the way my boss had a sore throat and cold at work and I do believe it is going around.
I should say he looked at my xrays and everything was good. That is when he told me it was gobular hysterica.
I am basically very healthy. Am not on any prescription medications except claritin once in a while and prevacid 30mg once a day!

As the clinical exam and xrays are normal, it is most likely sore throat. You have history of exposure as well.
Globus hysterical is a thing where you feel something is stuck in throat when nothing is. I don't think that is the case. You might be having a viral sore throat which is causing this. Very unlikely to be cancer.

The globus hystericus was about two weeks ago and before my sore throat and just comes and goes now. Just got the sore throat yesterday. I hate worrying.

This type of symptoms is more often due to Gastro esophageal reflux. Here the acidity of stomach goes back to esophagus and from there to the throat. Sense of sticking in throat and recurrent sore throat are compatible with it.
A trial of medications to prevent this may be helpful. Worrying too much only exacerbates reflux.
