What Causes Fever, Nausea Headache And Shivering?
Question: Good evening sir.
I am 33 year old male.
Last month i was having fever vomiting tendency headache and shivering. I was admitted in hospital and they started dose of monocef 2gm twice a day × 7 days.
All test like typhoid malaria Hep A & B Blood Culture,Urine Culture conducted and nothing was positive.
Chest xray was clear.
Finaly they conducted CT scan of abdomen it was also normal.I was discharged on 23 march and again on 24 april i am havin same symptoms i am having fever headache bodyache and not able to take food due to vomiting.
Today i have given blood sample for hemogram, liver panel,creatinine sodium and potassium serum,Blood culture and urine culture and urine.
Report received except for culture test .
Everything is fine only SGPT and SGOT is increased in the range of 80.I am a non smoker and vegetarian.
Occasional drinker but now stopped from January 2014.
Please help.

Thanks for your query at HCM.
I went through your query. You are having symptoms of fever, headache and vomiting. Do have blurring of vision, neck pain, pain in ear, ? Your most investigations have been normal and rest ordered. SGPT or SGOT is considered abnormal only when raised three times normal levels so no need to worry. Wait for other investigations to come. But the symptoms you are telling are suggesting meningitis or other infection. I suggest you to get properly examined by neurological and undertake lumbar puncture and CT Scan of Head based on clinical examination findings. As rest investigations for malaria, typhoid, etc are normal still you can go for a repeat test from reputed laboratory. You also must get your stool examination done for microscopy examination and culture sensitivity test. Monitor fever, blood pressure. Seek emergency help if symptoms deteriorate. Treatment will be based on investigations and examination.Follow up with investigations to me. Drugs beneficial are acetaminophen when fever and headache, doperidome for vomiting. Take rest and eat protein rich balanced diet with multivitamins and calcium supplements daily.

I reviewed your reports there is no abnormality seen. You are being prescribed cefixime ( Ceftas 400 mg) which must be taken twice daily for at least 10 days to cure infections if any. Edison D 40 mg is Esomeprazole for duodenal ulcers, Ato Z is multivitamins and Hifenac P is anti-inflammatory containing acelophenac 100 mg and paracetamol 650 mg. If your symptoms improve you continue with treatment it is my suggestion. If any deterioration in symptoms visit a doctor and stay in follow up.I believe you will be fine no need to be worried.
