What Causes Fever When Suffering From Rheumatoid Arthritis?

default
Posted on Sat, 16 Aug 2014
Question: I have had a temperature for over a week now, but only in the morning (99 - 102.2). I went to the doctor and they said I did not have an infection. However, the kidneys were a little dehydrated. So I started loading up on juices and water for the last two days. I have RA which could be the problem. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
NOT INFECTION-STEROIDS WILL HELP

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have carefully read your query and understood your concern,
As per your clinical history ,the elevated temperature in your case is due to the fluctuating disease activity of "RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS".

This fever generally needs no further evaluation or an infection test panel.
you should continue your prescribed medications for RA ,by altering the doses of steroid class of medicines.

Escalating the dose of steroids by 5 to 10 mg ,use twice a day for 7 continuous days, and get back to your original doses by tapering the dose over the next week.

Additional drugs like Paracetamol,Ibuprofen,Tepid Sponging ,can help to increase the efficacy of steroids and control the symptoms. All this is more than enough to get rid of your fever and muscle aches.

I hope this information is sufficient to you in handling your symptoms,

Kindly rate my answer as means of your valuable feedback,in order to asses my knowledge presentation .

Thank you,
Wish you a good health,
Dr.Suresh
