What Causes Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia (FM)
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
First of all ,Fibromyalgia (FM) per se is not a fatal condition.
However the presence of FM is associated with substantial negative consequences for physical and social functioning.
Symptoms of anxiety and depression are common,in addition to widespread pain.
Treatment strategies include physical conditioning, with encouragement to begin at low levels of aerobic exercise with slow but consistent advancement.
Treatments that incorporate improved physical function with relaxation, such as yoga and Tai Chi,are helpful.
Long-term usage of Celebrex (Celecoxib),non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug/ NSAID can damage kidney (analgesic nephropathy).
Tramal (tramadol) is an opiod analgesic which should be be avoided in patients with FM.
If a patient's symptom complex is dominated by pain and sleep disturbance sedating antidepressants such as amitriptyline or alpha-2-delta ligands such as gabapentin and pregabalin are desirable.
For patients with pain associated with fatigue, anxiety, or depression, drugs that have both analgesic and antidepressant/anxiolytic effects, such as duloxetine or milnacipran, may be the best first choice.
You may discuss with your doctor.
