What Causes Finger Numbness After Cervical Spine Manipulation By Chiropractors?
Brief Answer:
It is not normal.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Adverse effects after cervical spine manipulation by chiropractors include sudden onset of pain and tingling/numbness in arm(s) and hand(s).
This is not a normal condition because these symptoms may be caused by herniated disc disease.
Herniation may have been there and may be worsened by chiropractic manipulation,
or may be caused directly by these procedures.
It is necessary to get evaluated by imaging of the cervical spine ( MRI ) in order to evaluate/exclude this possibility.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Greetings.
It is not normal.

Thank you for your reply.
Should I then consult a neurologist or primary care doctor to get evaluated for having an MRI? Should I discontinue my treatment with the chiropractor until I am evaluated further?
I don't want to make this condition worse and am worried about ongoing treatment at this time.

Brief Answer:
Chiropractic procedures should be stopped for now.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
MRI can be ordered by your primary care Doctor.
In my opinion, you should stop chiropractic procedures until a correct diagnosis of your condition is achieved.
Hope I helped you.
Take care.
