What Causes Floaters In The Field Of Vision?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Feb 2017
Question: Good afternoon,
I just had a very weird sensation in my left eye. It felt like something pulling it toward the left and the field of vision moved in that direction also. This lasted about two minutes and now seems fine. I'm a 60 year old woman with high blood pressure and diabetes. Both of these when checked were in normal ranges. Should I be concerned?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Could be due to a pull on the vitreous and retina

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It is possible that you have floaters in your eye. The inside of the eye contains a gel called vitreous humor. There are thin strands attaching it to the retina. If the strands of connections get somehow pulled (as you turn the eye), the concerned part of the retina gets pulled and you get the weird sensation in the eye.

I do not think that you need to get concerned. However, if the problem keeps recurring, it would be a good idea to get the eye examined by an ophthalmologist.

Regards
