What Causes Fluid Retention In The Arm Post Wrist Surgery?
Question: Good evening its just an enquiry as I've had wrist surgery 12 weeks ago and my whole arm seems to have a lot of fluid and find it difficult to turn my hand around I am having physiotherapy for my hand but my arm is still very fat can you advise me please thank you

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.
If you had surgery 12 weeks ago on your wrist, I believe they put inside a cast. If this is true, pressure was put on the blood vessels, not allowing them to shrink/pass the blood adequately. This has lead to accumulation of blood and swollen arm.
It is a temporary condition and will take a few more weeks to get back to normal again. However, you should keep following up with the doctor who did surgery to exclude clogged blood vessels.
Try to keep the arm well elevated and follow your doctor's advice rigorously.
